A massive congratulations to everyone who played in the 2019 FAUK All-stars game, but especially to Team South who came away with the win 12-8 over the North.
Four current Destroyers played for the South in their victory this last Sunday; Alex Ampleford, Benny Debrah, Lawrence Cornwall-Baptiste and Emmanuel Feyibunmi, as well as former Destroyer Shemi Adeboye.
Eman came up big with a crucial tackle for a loss, late in the 4th quarter, to hold on to the South's lead and stall the North's offence. Lawrence and Shemi fortified the South’s offensive line, playing right and left tackle respectively, and powered the South’s dominant run game that helped them run down the clock to hold onto to a 4 point lead in the 4th quarter. Lawrence also stepped up with a big lead block setting up a running lane for the Souths’ second score of the day.
Alex Ampleford recorded 4 tackles for a loss, as well as forcing a fumble, leading to the MVP honour, winning himself a new Helmet curtesy of Football America.
Alex had this to say after his MVP performance:
“The game was a fantastic experience, being on the field where every player deserved to be there and could all execute their jobs to a high standard was a welcomed change. It was great seeing lots of guys I have previously scouted and looked at in-depth to face against walk onto the field wearing the same jersey. I am obviously very thankful to receive MVP for the game, its great to get some recognition, but it was even better walking out with a team W, couldn't have done anything without any of the other boys, especially the other 4 destroyers I got to kit up with, some probably for the last time.”
