The University of Portsmouth Destroyers are a proud BUCS American Football programme competing in the southern Premiership Division. Portsmouth first caught the attention of the Britball nation by pulling off the biggest upset in BUCS/BAFA history by beating the two time reigning champions, The Birmingham Lions, 20-19 in the final to win their first National Championship crown in 2011.
Founded in 2006 by founding coach Russ Hewitt, Portsmouth went on to build a reputation as a physical football team with powerful, hard hitting players across the team
Portsmouth currently hold the BUCS American Football record for most consecutive wins (19) spanning from November 2015 to March 2016, resulting in two back to back promotions.
